The inhabitants of the village of Gatare on the shores of Lake Rweru, in northern Burundi, live mainly from fishing. But the lack of adequate equipment, particularly life jackets, makes it a particularly risky activity.
Our project will enable them to:
- Improved safety when fishing
- Assistance with fish processing and preservation
- Support for setting up fish retail businesses
- A new source of income
Together, on Giving Tuesday, let's give them the right equipment so they can safely grow their business!
HOW CAN YOU TAKE PRACTICAL ACTION?
INHANCED SECURITY
For 30 CHF, equip fishermen with a basic safety kit (life jacket, safety equipment, etc.).
Sustainable management
For 60 CHF, contribute to training fishermen in the sustainable management of fishery resources. This enables them to better protect fry during the breeding seasons.
IMPROVED PACKAGING
For 120 CHF, help fishermen improve their equipment for storing and collecting their products. This will enable them to manage their stocks more effectively.
FH Switzerland, together with its partners in Burundi, is committed to strengthening the resilience of rural communities to climate change by contributing to increased agricultural production, diversification of economic activities, and the development of small businesses.
Join us in providing better living conditions for these families!
